Some of the best Metro areas in the city with space set aside for parks coupled with national parks just nearby and generally nice weather that allows travellers to have a good time outdoors. Some of the areas near and within the cities but still with green surrounding include;

(1) Oakland CA

Oakland CA boasts of eleven national parks and one of the places with the cleanest air in the Bay Area. This is a welcome destination for nature lovers. Oakland is also renowned for the estuary on Lake Merritt. There is also a spectacular redwood forest in Downtown area of North California and another great ocean view at the Cesar Chavez Park.

(2) San Diego CA

If you are looking for plenty of outdoor time, San Diego is just the perfect place to be with minimal rainfall of just about 15 inches annually. Its most popular parks include the Balboa Park, the Joshua Tree National Park and the Mission Bay Park. Most of the parks in San Diego are within the city vicinity. The sunset at dusk offers a great photographing opportunity as the wilderness surrounding stand out beautifully.

(3) The Washington DC

Washington DC not only houses the White House but also boats of more than ten national parks within the city vicinity. The national Aquarium in Washington DC is home to about 1500 water species which include alligators, sharks and sea turtles. Other very well-known parks include the President’s Park, the National Mall and the Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens which hosts the last standing tidal Marsh in the city.

(4) San Francisco CA

San Francisco is a very beautiful picturesque city popular with picnic lovers, hikers and adventure travellers. There are eleven National parks in the city vicinity. Other recreational parks are easy to access. The best spots are found past the Golden Gate at the Battery Wallace, the Muir Woods to find the redwood and the La garage well known for French dishes.

(5) Louisville

Louisville is a horse lover’s town and you have probably heard of the Kentucky derby that is held on the first Saturday of May. Exploring the city through the Urban Bourbon Trail will offer the traveller a great way to get familiar with the town culture.

(6) Sacramento CA

Besides the Sacramento River and the American River, Sacramento hosts numerous city parks that provide great leisure facilities and surprisingly has twelve national parks within the hundred-mile radius. The Leland Stanford Mansion undoubtedly offers the best picnic spot in its 19th century gardens. The beautiful McKinley Park Rose Garden has close to a thousand rose varieties that blossom in the summer and spring. The Juan Bautista trail named after Juan Bautista de Anza who led his team of two hundred settlers as they searched for settlement at the San Francisco Bay. The trail is however recommended for the hikers who are used to tough trails.

The destinations are just among the best travelling hotspots for the traveller but certainly not the only places worth visiting in the United States, the ESTA Visas program certainly allows tourists to spend up to 90 days without a visa requirement.
