The Best of Times Square – Attractions Worth Visiting!

The travel bug has bitten again and it’s time to hit the road. This time the glistening lights of the Big Apple beckon. I’ve always been an ardent lover of NYC- it easily tops the list of my ten best cities in the world- and the love keeps growing with every visit. I’ve lost count of the times when I’ve packed my bags and headed out here. This city never fails to impress me. Each time, there’s always something new to do; something different to see. And at its very heart lies Times Square-easily the coolest place to hang out in this sprawling city.

There is something about Times Square that keeps drawing you. If the crowds that throng here are any indication, you know this is where it all happens. Its cheery bustle, neon lights and oversized hoardings add to the magic, giving you an ethereal experience of sorts. Home to some of the most famous attractions in the country, a visit to Times Square is not just another option on a visitor’s agenda- it’s a must!

Every visitor to Times Square has a favorite place or places they call their own. So being the big aficionado that I am, here’s my list- in no particular order- of the top five attractionsto visit in Times Square. They all encapsulate what this iconic place stands for- glitz, glamour and everything in between.

1. Broadway
Nothing screams New York like Broadway. Performing night after night to a sold out crowd is the dream heldby every actor and you can get a piece of the action.From The Lion King to Chicago, there are a variety of genres to choose from. A visit to Times Square is incomplete withoutcatching a show featuring your favorite stars.

2. Ripley’s Believe It Or Not
If exploring the downright eccentric is your thing, Ripley’s is the place to be! Housing exhibits in twenty galleries spread across two floors, it’s one of the newest and most exciting additions to Times Square. From the wonderful to the weird- it boasts of a six-legged cow and a pickled touristhead among its prized collections- Ripley’s has it all.
3. Discovery Times Square

A museum like no other, a visit to Discovery Times Square – bringing to life relics from the past, assembling pieces of innovative art and giving you interactive experiences of groundbreaking events- is a fun, informational and assimilating adventure. With current exhibits ranging from treasure and ruins from ancient shipwrecks to delving into the LEGO world of artist extraordinaire Nathan Sawaya, this is one place you should not miss.

4. Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum
Imagine meeting your favorite movie star, albeit in wax form!An ode to America’s celebrity culture is the New York edition of Madame Tussaud’s- with great attention to detail and authenticity, the wax statues almost seem lifelike. Pose for pictures with your favorite movie stars, musicians, athletes, world leaders and even the royal family from England!
5. Rockefeller Center
Soak in the incredible 360 degree view of the city’s much celebrated skyline with a trip to the Top of the Rock. Giving you an unhindered view of New York’s landmark buildings and bridges, the 70 floor ascent to reach the top is definitely worth it. It’s a great way to end your trip which is sure to be an unforgettable one.
For newbies visiting this great city or for those like me who never tire of being immersed in the melting pot that is New York, Times Square is the bridge where you cross over the chasm to another world.
